Employee Benefits for Haslett and Meridian Township Employers

Haslett is a community in Meridian Township between East Lansing and Williamston, close to Okemos and the Grand River Avenue corridor. Its employers range from small professional offices to service businesses, and their staff have plenty of nearby options. We help Haslett employers put together a benefits plan that holds up against those options.

Haslett at a Glance

Haslett is a community of 19,670 people (2020 census) in northern Ingham County, mostly inside Meridian Charter Township. These are the facts that matter for an employer here.

Between East Lansing and Okemos

East Lansing borders Haslett to the west and Okemos to the south, and Business Loop I-69 (East Saginaw Street) runs through the northwest part of the community. Employers draw on one connected labor market that includes Michigan State University and downtown Lansing.

Several School Districts, One Community

Most of Haslett is in Haslett Public Schools, but parts fall in the Okemos, East Lansing and Williamston districts. Employees’ families can be in different districts, which is one reason we look at where each employee lives when we check provider networks.

Competing for Staff

Michigan State University employed 10,253 people in 2018, according to the Lansing Economic Area Partnership. For a Haslett employer, a clear and competitive benefits package helps in conversations with candidates who have that option.

Figures are from the 2020 U.S. Census unless noted.

Plan Options for a Haslett Employer

We price fully insured, level-funded and self-funded options side by side using your census and claims, so the choice rests on your numbers. A small group with steady claims often finds level-funding worth pricing. See level-funded health plans.

Competing With East Lansing and Okemos for Staff

Haslett employers recruit against the university, health systems and larger employers a few miles away. A clear, competitive benefits package helps you keep people you have trained. See our East Lansing and Okemos pages.

Compliance Without a Compliance Department

A small employer still owes ACA reporting, COBRA notices and a plan document that matches the plan. We keep those on a calendar through the year. See Michigan benefits compliance.

Haslett, Michigan: Local Background for Employers

Haslett is a community in northern Ingham County, mostly inside Meridian Charter Township. It has an unusual history for a suburban town.

From Spiritualist Camp To Resort

James and Sarah Haslett founded the Nemoka Spiritualist Camp on Pine Lake, now Lake Lansing. After James died in 1891 his widow sold the land to the Haslett Park Association in 1898, and the owners built a summer recreation destination. Lake Lansing Amusement Park, with a figure-8 wooden roller coaster, ran near the lake from 1934 to 1974, and a Lansing trolley line carried visitors there.

Households In Haslett

The 2020 census counted 9,020 households. About 36.8% were people living alone and 42.2% were married couples, and the median age was 41.1. That mix is why we ask employers about dependent coverage early.

Four School Districts

Haslett Public Schools serves most of the community, while parts of Haslett fall in the Okemos, East Lansing and Williamston districts. Employees at one Haslett employer can therefore live in several school districts.

What Haslett Employers Ask Us First

Haslett employers sit between East Lansing and Williamston, and their questions reflect a mixed workforce.

Our Employees Live In Several Districts

We check network access and urgent care coverage across the places your employees actually live, not only near the office.

We Have Employees Living Alone And Employees With Families

Plan design matters here. We show how each tier is priced so you can see what a single employee and a family each pay.

Should We Offer A Wellness Or Voluntary Benefit

Voluntary options can add value for employees at little cost to the company. We tell you which are worth offering and which add administrative work without much benefit.

What Haslett Employers Ask

Can a Haslett professional office with a handful of employees offer group coverage?

Often yes, depending on participation and how much the employer contributes. We check eligibility and run the options before you commit to anything.

We already have a broker. Can you still look at our renewal?

Yes. Send the renewal letter, plan summary, contribution split and enrolled counts. The review is free and carries no obligation. See how a renewal second opinion works.

Do you have an office in Haslett?

No. Our Michigan office is in Bloomfield Hills, and we serve Haslett employers by phone, video and on site when needed.
