Williamston at a Glance
Williamston is a city of 3,819 people (2020 census) in Ingham County, 15 miles east of Lansing and 11 miles east of East Lansing. These are the facts that matter for an employer here.
Commuter Community
Williamston is mainly a bedroom community, and many residents commute to Okemos, East Lansing or Lansing. M-43 (Grand River Avenue) runs through downtown, and I-96 is two miles south.
Schools and Local Employers
Williamston Community Schools serves the city with four public schools, and St. Mary School and Memorial Lutheran are the private schools. An industrial park opened near I-96, and downtown is known for antique and specialty shops.
Competing for Staff
Small Williamston employers compete with large employers a short drive away. The Lansing Economic Area Partnership listed the State of Michigan (14,390 employees) and Michigan State University (10,253) among the region’s largest employers in 2018.
Figures are from the 2020 U.S. Census unless noted.
Plan Options for a Small Williamston Employer
Fully insured small-group plans are the usual starting point. Level-funded plans are worth pricing once a group has steady, predictable claims. We run both against your census rather than assume one answer. See our guide to level-funded health plans.
Competing With Okemos and Lansing for Staff
A Williamston employer recruits against larger organizations a short drive away. Dental, vision, disability and life coverage often decide whether a candidate takes the offer. We review what you offer against the market so you know where you stand. See our pages for Okemos and the Greater Lansing area.
Compliance Without a Compliance Department
A small employer still owes ACA reporting, COBRA notices and a plan document that matches the plan. We handle those through the year, and CPAs and attorneys are available through CFH once you are a client. See Michigan benefits compliance.

We Have Part-Time Or Seasonal Staff
Part-time and seasonal hours make eligibility rules important. We help you set hours thresholds so you are not paying for coverage you did not intend.
We Compete With Lansing And Okemos Employers
A smaller employer can lose a good employee to a larger one elsewhere in the Lansing area. We help you price a package that narrows that gap.
How Do We Handle The Busy Season
