Dimondale at a Glance
Dimondale is a village of 1,134 people (2020 census) in Eaton County, in Windsor Charter Township and southwest of Lansing. These are the facts that matter for an employer here.
A River Village on the I-96 Corridor
Isaac M. Dimond built a dam on the Grand River here in 1850, the village was platted in 1856 and incorporated in 1906. Interstate 96 was built through Windsor Township in 1962, and the highway brought a number of new businesses to the area.
Schools
Holt Public Schools now operates Dimondale Elementary School, and Holt High School serves the district. Dimondale had its own high school from 1929 to 1963, when it merged into the Holt district.
A Small Employer in a Big Labor Market
Because Dimondale is small, most employers there recruit from a wider area that includes Lansing and Holt. That makes benefits a practical way for a small business to compete.
Figures are from the 2020 U.S. Census unless noted.

Dimondale, Michigan: Local Background for Employers
Dimondale is a village in Eaton County, inside Windsor Charter Township, with Lansing to the northeast. It is a small place with a long industrial history on the Grand River.
A Village Built On The Grand River
Isaac Dimond arrived in 1848 and began building a dam on the Grand River in 1850. A sawmill was running by 1852 and a grist mill followed in 1856. The village was platted as Dimondale that same year, and the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway arrived in 1878.
From Mills To Interstate Access
By 1880 the settlement had seven shops, including a sawmill, a grist mill, a planing mill and several machine shops. Dimondale incorporated as a village in 1906. Interstate 96 was built through Windsor Township in 1962, which tied the village to the wider Lansing area.
Size And Schools
The 2020 census counted 1,134 residents, down from 1,342 in 2000. Dimondale had its own high school from 1929 to 1963, when it merged into the Holt School District. Dimondale Elementary is still run by Holt Public Schools.
What Dimondale Employers Ask Us First
Employers in a village of this size usually have a handful of employees, and their questions reflect that.
Is A Group Plan Worth It For A Few Employees
Often yes, but it depends on participation and contribution. We run the numbers for the group you actually have, and we tell you plainly when a different arrangement would fit better.
Can You Work Around Our Eaton County Location
Yes. Dimondale is in Eaton County with Lansing nearby, and we compare carrier networks against where your employees actually live and seek care, not just where the office is.
What Happens If Someone Leaves
We explain continuation rights, termination dates and how to remove a former employee cleanly, so a departure does not leave you paying for coverage you did not intend to.
What Dimondale Employers Ask
Our Dimondale company is small. Do we have to offer health coverage?
Whether the ACA employer mandate applies depends on how many full-time and full-time-equivalent employees you had in the prior year. We check that count first, then show you what offering coverage would involve.
We already have a broker. Can you still look at our renewal?
Yes. Send the renewal letter, plan summary, contribution split and enrolled counts. The review is free and carries no obligation. See how a renewal second opinion works.
Do you have an office in Dimondale?
No. Our Michigan office is in Bloomfield Hills, and we serve Dimondale employers by phone, video and on site when needed.
