Holt at a Glance
Holt had 25,625 residents at the 2020 census, which makes it the largest community in Delhi Charter Township, south of Lansing. These are the facts that matter for an employer here.
A Highway Crossroads
Holt sits just south of Interstate 96 and is surrounded by I-96, U.S. Route 127 and M-99. Mason is about six miles to the southeast and Dimondale about six miles to the west, so employees move easily across the south side of the Capital Region.
Local Public Transit and Schools
The Capital Area Transportation Authority serves Holt on Route 8, and Holt Public Schools operates Holt High School. For employers with hourly staff, commute access is part of whether a job is realistic.
Large Employers Within Reach
The Lansing Economic Area Partnership’s 2018 list names General Motors (4,549 employees), Auto-Owners Insurance (2,578), Jackson National Life (2,500) and Dart Container (2,000) among the region’s largest employers. A Holt employer competes with them for the same workers.
Figures are from the 2020 U.S. Census unless noted.
Plan Options for a Holt Employer
We compare fully insured, level-funded and self-funded plans against your own census and claims, then show what each would cost and what risk it carries. For groups with steady claims, we also look at level-funded health plans.
Compliance Without a Compliance Department
Contractors and small manufacturers often have variable hours, which makes ACA full-time tracking and affordability testing harder. We handle that testing, COBRA and ERISA through the year. See Michigan benefits compliance.
Holt, Michigan: Local Background for Employers
Holt is an unincorporated community in Delhi Charter Township, south of Lansing. The details below help explain its employer base.
A Town Named For A Postmaster General
The first permanent settlers of Delhi Township, John Norris and Fred Luther, arrived in 1837. In 1860 the post office at Delhi Center was renamed Holt, after Joseph Holt, then U.S. Postmaster General, to avoid confusion with Delhi Mills in Washtenaw County. The northern part was once known as Five Corners or North Holt.
A Fast-Growing Community
Holt had 25,625 residents in 2020, up from 11,315 in 2000. The 2020 census counted 10,449 households, 30.1% with children under 18, and a median age of 39.1.
Built On A Glacial Esker
Holt sits on a glacial esker, the longest in Michigan at roughly 20 miles, running from south Lansing through Holt to just past Mason. The CATA bus system serves Holt on Route 8.
What Holt Employers Ask Us First
Holt has a large residential base and a growing set of small businesses.
We Are Growing Quickly
Headcount changes alter eligibility, contribution and carrier options. We review the plan with you at each renewal so it keeps pace with the company.
Employees With Children Need Different Coverage
With nearly a third of households having children under 18, dependent coverage cost often decides whether an employee enrolls. We model it before you set your contribution.
Can Transit Or Commute Matter For Benefits
Some employers pair health coverage with commuter or pre-tax benefits. We explain which are worth the administration for your size.
What Holt Employers Ask
Our Holt crew works variable hours. Which employees do we have to offer coverage to?
For employers subject to the ACA employer mandate, eligibility is tested on hours over a measurement period, not on a job title. We set up that tracking and the offer rules so you are not guessing at year end.
We already have a broker. Can you still look at our renewal?
Yes. Send the renewal letter, plan summary, contribution split and enrolled counts. The review is free and carries no obligation. See how a renewal second opinion works.
Do you have an office in Holt?
No. Our Michigan office is in Bloomfield Hills, and we serve Holt employers by phone, video and on site when needed.
Send Us This Year’s Holt Renewal
Send the Holt renewal, plan summary, contribution and enrollment by tier, and two more documents if you are at fifty or above. We will explain the increase and check both nearby hospital systems in the network. 248.370.8853 or info@cfhic.com.
