An alert is useful only if it leads to a decision. When a change appears, ask three questions: does it apply to us given our size, funding and states, what is the date by which we must act, and who needs to be told. Recording the answers, even briefly, turns reading into action and creates a record of how you responded.
Not every change requires action. Some set a long timeline, and the right response is to note the date and revisit it later. Others, such as a new notice or filing, need to be on the calendar now.
