HSA room left in 2026
FSA room left in 2026
Two accounts, two sets of rules, one deadline.
An HSA and a healthcare FSA are not interchangeable — most plans do not allow both at once outside a limited-purpose FSA — but each has its own room to track.
The 2026 Numbers
HSA: $4,400 self-only / $8,750 family, plus a $1,000 catch-up at 55 or older. Healthcare FSA: $3,400 per employee, with up to $680 allowed to carry over into 2027 if the plan permits it. Both figures are per the IRS’s annual inflation adjustment.
Where This Connects to Direct Primary Care
Starting January 1, 2026, a qualifying direct primary care membership no longer disqualifies an HSA — up to $150 a month for individual coverage or $300 a month for family, as long as the fee is the provider’s sole compensation. See the full rules on concierge medicine and direct primary care.
