PriorityWell gives large-group employers a digital wellness platform, but the incentives are a separate decision.
PriorityWell is the digital health and wellness solution Priority Health launched in 2022 for large-group employers. The platform is the engagement layer; what employees earn for using it is chosen separately.
What the program is and what members do.
What PriorityWell is
Priority Health describes PriorityWell as a digital health and wellness solution that launched in 2022. It guides members and recommends programs relevant to their individual health needs. Think of it as the front door: members land there, see suggested programs, and pick the ones that match their goals.
What members do on it
Priority Health says members choose goal-related programs, including daily interactive content and healthy habit tracking. About 80 individual and group activity challenges are featured, focused on exercise, healthy eating and managing stress. As members track their activity, Priority Health says they earn incentives.
What sits on top of it
Priority Health says the PriorityWell solution includes a range of additional incentive options that employers can choose from. PriorityWell Choice Benefits, added in 2023, is one of them. The platform and the incentive menu are related but not the same purchase decision.
Eligibility, funding and plan design.
Who it is built for
Priority Health’s 2023 announcement describes PriorityWell as available to large-group employers that purchase it. That wording matters: it is something an employer buys, not a feature every Priority Health member automatically sees. Small groups should not assume access without asking Priority Health directly.
How it is sold
Priority Health refers to employers that purchase PriorityWell and to incentive options the employer can choose. We read that as an employer-selected solution rather than a default plan feature. The published pages we reviewed do not state a price, so any cost has to come from Priority Health.
Where it fits in plan design
A platform works well when it supports a larger plan strategy, such as steering members to preventive care or chronic condition programs. On its own it is an engagement tool. The value depends on whether employees actually log in and whether the group has a reason to want that engagement.
What to settle before relying on it.
Is PriorityWell included in our renewal or priced separately?
Ask for the PriorityWell line item in writing at renewal. If it is a purchased solution, the cost should be visible and comparable year over year. We would also ask whether the price changes if incentive options are added later.
Which incentive options come with it, and who pays for them?
Priority Health says employers choose from a range of incentive options. Ask which ones your group would be eligible for, whether rewards are funded by the plan design or by your own budget, and what the annual exposure looks like if participation is high.
What will we see back about use?
Ask what group-level reporting Priority Health provides on enrollment and activity, and how often. If you hope to support a premium rebate under Michigan law, ask whether the reporting can document results. Participation numbers alone usually do not show health improvement.
Common questions about this program.
Is PriorityWell open to small groups?
Priority Health describes it as a solution for large-group employers that purchase it. Whether a smaller group can buy it is a question for Priority Health or your broker. Do not promise it to employees until it is confirmed in writing.
Do employees earn rewards on PriorityWell?
Priority Health says members earn incentives as they track activity. The specific rewards depend on which incentive options the employer selected. Any reward tied to health outcomes can fall under HIPAA and ACA wellness rules, so have employment counsel review the design.
Does PriorityWell lower our premium?
Not automatically. Priority Health presents it as an engagement and wellness tool. Michigan law (MCL 500.3426) separately lets insurers offer premium rebates for employer wellness programs that show results, capped at 30%, or 50% for tobacco cessation, but nothing we found says PriorityWell triggers a rebate.
