Lewiston at a Glance
Lewiston is a census-designated place in Albert Township with 996 residents at the 2020 census. These are the facts that shape benefits planning for an employer here.
Location
Lewiston sits on the north side of East Twin Lake, 16 miles southwest of Atlanta, the county seat, and 27 miles southeast of Gaylord. Oscoda County borders it to the south. East Twin Lake and West Twin Lake are part of the Au Sable River watershed that flows toward Lake Huron.
Small and Rural
With fewer than 1,000 residents, most local employers are small businesses, often with a few employees and part-time or seasonal staff. For groups this small, plan access, simplicity and a responsive contact matter more than a long menu of options.
Network Access
Rural employers often have employees who travel to a larger town for care. We check provider networks against where your people actually go, so the plan you choose is one they can use.
Plan Options for a Lewiston Employer
A group plan can be set up with as few as one W-2 employee, it can start in any month and it does not require an employer contribution. Small Lewiston groups often compare a traditional fully insured plan with a level-funded plan. We price your actual census with several carriers and show the tradeoffs before you commit.
Keeping Staff in a Small Labor Market
In a small community, a benefits offer can decide whether a worker stays or takes a job in a larger town. A clear medical plan with fair contributions and a person to call with questions helps a small employer hold on to staff. We help you decide where to put a limited budget and how to explain it.
Compliance Without a Compliance Department
At 50 full-time-equivalent employees an employer becomes an applicable large employer under the ACA, with offer and reporting duties, and a plan generally needs a Form 5500 filing once it passes 100 participants. We track your headcount against those lines so changes are planned in advance. See our Michigan benefits compliance guide for the yearly calendar.
